A1: Bermuda & Cherry - Chevrons and Petite Polka Dots

This is probably my favorite of the A1 cards that I made for my November class. I ADORE the bermuda chevron mixed with the cherry petite polka dots. And the plain bermuda and cherry just pop on the patterned paper. Don't you just love it? I was inspired by a card made by Laura Roell. She's so talented!
This stamp set, Cup of Good Cheer, was on my MUST HAVE list when I first saw the holiday catalog. The mug is so fun to color and it's also awesome paper pieced as you see here. I kept it simple and didn't cut out the center of the handle but you could use a craft blade and clean that up really easily.

To get the steam perfectly placed is super easy. The trick is to cut the plain bermuda cardstock shape out of the vintage labels 2 die and stamp the mug on it towards the bottom of the die cut. Next, stamp the steam over that mug and don't worry about it overlapping because you'll be covering it up.

Stamp the mug on cherry cardstock and cut it out and glue it over the top of the plain mug.

Next stamp and cut out the marshmallows on sugar cardstock. That's the most tedious cutting but really isn't bad.

Layer the marshmallows on the paper-pieced mug and steam to give some dimension.

If you assemble it in that order, the steam will be perfectly placed in the mug for the cocoa to look freshly poured. :)

Add some organdy cherry polka dot ribbon to the back and layer the assembled bermuda cardstock die cut on the petite polka dot cherry cardstock.

Finish it off with a petite buttercup paper flower and black onyx pearl stickers.
Here's the inside. Simple but sweet! What do you think?

I love how you cut marshmallows and put on top of the solid color mug. It looks so yummy like that.
