Musical Birthday - Dies! Glorious Dies!

How's it going? I had a fabulous week-end. I spent part of it with great friends and spent part of it trying to get more organized in my crafting area. I caught up on the DVR'd shows (or mostly caught up) and just puttered away. I love having a week-end to putter!

Before I started trying to get organized, I put together this card. This might be a sneak peek at a May card class design. I haven't decided for sure. I made it for a card order and am really happy with how it turned out. What do you think? It was for a masculine b-day card for someone who loves music.
I love the silver washi tape over the music note stamped labels 8 die-cut. It looks even better in "real life."
The "happy birthday" banner nestles between the stars, one of which is popped up. I think it's a fun touch, especially since the sentiment fits in the die shape. Inside, is just the star dies in sugar cardstock layered on sugar cardstock after being stamped and edged. Love the tone on tone look inside! What do you think? Should this be part of my May card class? Can't wait to hear from you!

And, with all these die-cuts, this card is a perfect entry into the A Muse Studio Challenge Blog: Dies! Glorious Dies! Challenge. Check out the design team's fabulous creations! And, you can play along too!!! There's a prize up for grabs so give it a try!

I'd better get back to my super long "to do" list. Have a most fabulous day!!  Oh - and the May Spotlight Specials are up. Some of my favorite sets are on sale for 10% off for the month of May! Click on the tab at the top of this blog post to go to the Specials page!

Simple Sympathy Card

Sadly, there's always a need for a sympathy card. This is a simple one that can be done quickly. It features the A Muse Studio "Loving Memories" stamp set and the swallows dies.

There's an onyx gingham piece, sugar and onyx cardstock die cuts (circle and scalloped circle) and swallow diecuts in sugar cardstock as well. The sage petite polka dot cardstock base is white inside (love that about the A Muse Cardstock!) which gives you the opportunity to do more stamping inside. And, it was all stamped in grass ink.
So there you have it. A "flat" card which is easy to mail and yet carries a beautiful message of comfort and hope in a time of sadness.

Have a wonderfully creative day!

Graduation Gatefold

Graduation time is quickly approaching so it's time to break out the cool graduation stamps and get your cards ready. As I may have said before and probably will again (lol)... I LOVE the A Muse Studio stamp set "conGRADulations" because I think the sentiment is about the most perfect sentiment ever - a quote by Minor Myers, Jr. - "Go forth and do well but even more, go forth and do good".
This is a typical gatefold card on kraft cardstock. It has a layer of cherry cardstock below cherry vintage cardstock on the front panels and a couple of labels 3 nesties cardstock shapes - vanilla layered on  black.
Inside the graduation caps were stamped on vanilla cardstock, cut out and glued onto the card base. The sentiment is tongue in cheek with "conGRADulations!" Isn't that fun?
As you can see when the card is opened, the center label is only attached to one side of the card. The card is held closed with a little diploma catch. The diploma is stamped on vanilla cardstock and popped up on the corner so that it "catches" the edge of the center label.

Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This...

Ever have one of those days??? I have and sometimes they're too close together! lol! Someone else might need a pick-me-up that's having one of those days too. This card is perfect for them. The stamp set is called Days Like This and it's a super fun A Muse Studio set!
The base is lime green cardstock with a papaya layer, a sugar layer and a bubblegum tag. The cloud dies are edged with a sponge dauber with sky ink (great way to layer white on white by sponging an edge!) and the sugar layer is popped up over papaya and bubblegum polka dot organdy ribbon. The ice cream cone was stamped in memento cocoa ink and colored with lime green and papaya memento markers to look like melting ice cream. A little grey tombow marker makes the "ground" for the splat of the fallen ice cream cone.
Inside, the card says "mama said there'd be days like this...". I love that sentiment - so cute and so true! :)

It's got humor and it's cheery - the perfect thing for a friend who's having that kind of day and needs a hug with a fold. :)

The stamp set is on my website under the category "everyday celebrations" at www.amusestudio.com/seleise (consultant # 1379). The other supplies are under paper and ribbons and coloring tools.

Have a wonderfully creative day!

Bonjour!!

Bonjour!!! I love, love, love the polka dot Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower) from A Muse Studio. My mom got me this stamp for my birthday. Isn't it cute?!!! It's been years since my last trip to Paris and it's been years since I taught French but I had to have this stamp set! It's got three french sayings - Bonjour (hello), Je t'aime (I Love You) and Merci (thank you) as well as the polka dot Tour Eiffel.

I thought it would look super cute with the bermuda ink polka dot Eiffel Tower on the black petite polka dot paper. Isn't it a gorgeous color combo?! The card base is the bermuda cardstock. I stamped and cut out the tower and then popped it up on the polka dot label. That shape is the second largest of the labels 8 spellbinder die. A little baker's twine finished off the look. The sentiment was stamped in memento black ink and the banner shape (from the cupcake toppers die set) was edged with bermuda ink and placed on the edge of the card.
I repeated the bermuda tower and the black sentiment on the inside. What do you think? This is the first of my April card class projects.

Shimmery Scallop Birthday Card

Here's the final March card class project. It's a cute shaped card made by using a scalloped circle nestie, some fabulous shimmer paper and a couple of circle punches. I saw the card shape design idea online and thought it was so clever and then forgot to bookmark the link so I could credit the original creator. My apologies.
So, how do you make this card? First, you fold the sugar card base in half and cut the card base by overlapping the die on the fold. To better explain since I didn't think to take a picture (oops!), put about four scallops of your die over the top of your fold so that there is a flat edge on the top of your card. You can see on the photo below how that looks - scalloped all except for the top flat edge. Then, cut the full scalloped circle out of the shimmer paper and pop it on top! This will make it easy for the card to open and close but will also give the appearance of being a full scalloped circle card. Just remember to look at the pattern on your background paper so you have it going vertically (don't ask me if I learned that the hard way- lol!).
I love the saying on the inside. It's from Birthday Greetings. The birthday hat is from Itty Bitty Birthday colored with the bubblegum tombow marker and the popped up sentiment is from Cupcake Companion stamped in bubblegum ink. The shimmer paper is bubblegum damask cardstock and the ribbon is the bubblegum satin ribbon tied with the fabulous A Muse Studio Bowmaker tool. :)

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the March card class projects. All products used were A Muse Studio and can be purchased online safely and securely at www.amusestudio.com/seleise (consultant #1379). And, the new spotlight specials have been posted for April on the second page of my blog. Have fun looking at the fabulous ideas as well as the stamps and paper on special!
