I've had some orders for baby cards so that's why you're seeing so many these days. Oh - and I'm going to be an aunt again in January so baby cards are good. :)
Here's one that uses washi tape for the background element - love those three tapes together!
How about some layered circles with a pink and black theme? This is using retired paper which I've been hoarding but finally decided to use. :) love scallops with baby cards!
And finally, here's a paper-pieced Little Peanuts card. I love this set! I think this is my first time to paper piece a pattern on a pattern. I think it's pretty-darned cute, what do you think? I like the kraft on the corner to break up the pink but do you think it's a little too much contrast? I'd love your feedback.

Special Gift - Americana/Military/Memory Mini Album
I'm going to share a very special gift with you. I gave this mini album to my college friend a couple of weeks ago when I attended her military retirement ceremony at Langley Air Force Base. Bobbie and I lived across the hall from each other when we were freshman in college. We became fast friends and now 26 years later, we're still friends. I love making mini albums and usually they're blank for a gift but this time, I got to add the photos too.
I was fortunate to attend Bobbie's commissioning ceremony into the Air Force when she graduated from college. She joined the air force to see the world and was stationed in Missouri after living a large part of her life in Kansas. lol! ;) Her dad was in the army but they were stationed at Ft. Riley five times so Manhattan was a big part of her life.
I scanned a bunch of photos from that day and also from graduation and started putting her album together.
We visited back and forth across the country as we all started our careers. Janese, another college 4th floor friend for life, and I went to Ohio. Bobbie came to see us as well in western Kansas and northern New Mexico.
We always have fun and silly times when we're together. :)
I also scanned some pics from 4th floor Goodnow at Kansas State University. Bobbie had a camera with a timer (okay - that dates me a little because that was a big deal!). Silly fun! ;)
We had so many fun times with our crazy group of friends!
Anyway, it was a blast to go through all these old pics and put them into an americana type album.
A little bling - stamps from a bunch of companies - and cool sizzix shapes all worked together for the album.
We had some pretty memorable trips together. I brought her to Randall and introduced her to some of my favorite people - my parents and Trouble. Trouble was a lady back home who always had the coffee pot ready to go as well as a ready laugh and a hug. She always said "Come back when you can't stay so long." lol! She was one in a million! Bobbie loved her too and they exchanged cards for years. Bobbie called my parents her Randall parents and my mom and I quilted the very first quilt she made (see below). She put a picture of my dad with her family military photos at her retirement ceremony. It was a beautiful honor.
Bobbie has become quite the quilter and even made Janese stay up until 2 a.m. making a quilt block when we went to visit her in Ohio. Good times. They're both super talented!
Over the years the trips to see each other just didn't work into schedules. The last time we saw each other in person was 1998 before this July. We picked up right where we left off.
So, that's it. I left some space in the album for retirement ceremony photos. Bobbie asked me to sing the National Anthem at her ceremony. I was soooo nervous and so honored. :) Here's a pic of the two of us after all the festivities were over. It was such a fun trip and she has an amazing new path to follow! Thank you to Bobbie and to all of our military people for serving to give us the freedom we take for granted! It was great to spend time with her family and colleagues!
So, thanks for indulging me with a trip down memory lane and I hope everyone is as fortunate to have many wonderful friends in their lives! Work to keep them there because lifetime friends are special!

Hey Cupcake!
In theory, I should have time to catch up on a few things but it's been one busy summer. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it! But, my blog hopping has been delayed with so many other priorities. I will get caught up again soon. In the meantime, have a cupcake. ;)
Grapefruit and gingham! I love this combo! I just ordered some more onyx gingham to put with grape! I hope it's as cute (and I know it will be!!!). The ink is grapefruit for the dollop and check out the paper-pieced petite polka dot cupcake wrapper! Love it! ;) Some mini star twinkle stickers finishes it all off!
And, here's the inside. simple and sweet! What do you think?

Birthday - Grape and Grapefruit Combo - CC323
The inks are grapefruit and grape just like the cardstock. I love that color combo! And, the flowers have been inked in grapefruit as well. A little bling with the spica gel pen around the vintage labels stamp and some bling on the flowers and a very un-merry birthday sentiment finishes it all off. A happy little birthday card!
This color combo also fits in the CC323 Color Combination Challenge on SplitCoast Stampers. I love that you can play with those challenges anytime it fits into your schedule.

50th Golden Anniversary Cards - Big Celebration
When you mix big celebrations and gold embossing powder, you get FABULOSITY! Really - you do! Trust me - fabulosity!!!
I stamped the numbers in versamark and embossed them in gold. Then I cut them out and layered them on to the eucalyptus lacey circle. This was layered on a clear embossed shimmer cardstock piece and then layered on toffee. The swallow dies were cut out of vellum and glittered up.
Inside, the swallows were cut out of sugar and layered on the eucalyptus die cut.
And, here's a variation with the embossed numbers layered on an embossed script background. A vellum butterfly and embossed petite daisy with a vanilla pearl finishes off the look. What do you think?

A Shimmery Wedding Card
Here's another mixed stamp company card. The shimmer cardstock and word window die is A Muse Studio. The sentiment and image are from TAC.
A little a│s twinkle star bling finishes it off. isn't the shimmer paper pretty for this card? I love it! Those word window dies are soooo fun to play with and I can't wait to use them again. A Muse Studio has some wonderful exclusive dies that are so versatile! You should check them out!!!

4th of July B-day Card
Let Freedom Ring! Happy Birthday to the country and all of those 4th of July peeps out there! I'll be celebrating the 4th with a college friend and who knows where we'll end up! It's going to be a grand adventure.
This card is perfect for a masculine birthday, don't you agree? A kraft cardstock base with Cherry, Navy and Sugar layers. The extraordinary background was stamped first and a sponge dauber was used to edge it with navy. Then the cherry stars (stamped first on scratch paper and then on the background) were added and finally the stars and bars which were carefully inked with the two colors and then stamped. Both of those elements are from Let Freedom Ring. The kraft sentiment layer was edged in cherry and stamped in navy. The sentiment is from Hey Cupcake. Finally the cherry petite polka dot star was popped up and added. I love how this came out!
Here's the inside!
Finally, here's a side view of the popped up star on the front of the card. What do you think?
And, here's a 4th of July luminary using the same "let freedom ring" stamp set. Put a battery-operated tea light inside and watch it glow. So cool!
Have a wonderful 4th of July to all my USA friends! and, for my other world friends, enjoy the day!
