Happy Birthday - Marvelous Mottos!

I love, love, love when a card comes together without really thinking about it, don't you? I was stamping off some images earlier this evening at Tuesday night stamping which is a weekly potluck supper and stamping evening with some FABULOUS ladies! So, anyway, I was randomly putting things together on strips to layer on cards when I had time. I started playing with TAC's Marvelous Mottos (which is also a great scrapbooking stamp set!) and got a bunch of strips stamped up. Then, I got home and started putting together a card with the stamped strip of paper. Let me tell you - it just worked and I love the outcome! Kraft, stardust, white, ivory, scarlet, navy and black were used on the different layers on different cards. I pulled out the scalloped, cloud and deckle scissors and just started going to town. I decided TAC's Butterfly Bits would be the perfect images to finish off the design. The "kissing" technique made the butterflies perfect and I only glued half of the butterflies down so they're "lifting" off the page.

Here are several versions - what do you think?

On a totally separate note, for all that asked about my "mouth" and "healing", I appreciate all the kind thoughts! To catch up everyone else, I had all four wisdom teeth removed on Thursday and spent the week-end resting and stamping while I started the healing process. All is going pretty well with it so far so thanks a bunch! I have the best dentist in the world, Dr. Winter, who is so kind as I'm a huge baby when it comes to dental work and get all worked up before an appointment and he (and Ky and Mikhaela and Allie...) always get me calmed down and make me laugh before we get started. And, he deserves a medal because I've been there A LOT in the last couple of years and he's always so patient and wonderful! So, anyway - here's a toast to Dr. Winter and Ky and everyone at Downtown Dental and thanks again for the kind thoughts!

Willoughby Sympathy Card

Here's a simple sympathy card that I think is respectful of the occasion. It features some lovely paper from the Willoughby collection layered on kraft cardstock. The cloud scissors give the perfect finishing touch for the background and the sentiment. The beautiful tree from Good Timber stamped in burnt umber is the perfect calming touch for the design. And, it goes easily through the mail because there are no bumps or raised parts to keep the card from getting to the recipient. Hugs to all who have lost loved ones recently.

Tri-Fold Shutter Card

This is a great card design that looks much more difficult than it really is. Laurie Willison, another TAC angel, posted her card (so awesome!) and also a link to a great tutorial. I was so excited and just had to try it. So, here you go - my first tri-fold shutter card! My class LOVED making it and that made my day! Such a wonderful group of ladies! Back to the card - the best part is that you can get two cards out of one sheet of 12" X 12" paper and all the designer paper pieces for one card from one sheet of 8" X 8" paper and that's if you cover every open space. You can also leave some open. It's great to play with all the variations.

I created a very rough sketch for how to cut the 8X8 paper. What do you think?
Supplies: Kraft 12X12 cardstock, Monkey Business, Celebration Time, Antique Spiral Clips, Brown Scrappers Floss, Rustic Chic 8X8 paper, Versamagic Jumbo Java ink

Thanks for dropping in and have a fabulous week-end! Happy Stamping!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mom's Day to all you wonderful moms out there! I am blessed to have the best Mom in the world! She's always been there for me even when I've been a giant pain in the patootie. :) She's always got a hug and love for all of us kids and at the same time, keeps it real and doesn't let us get too big for our britches. :) She listens to us and has listened to all of our friends over the years too - a second Mom to most of them! She still goes to most of the school activities even though all of us have been out of school for many years (did I just call us old? hee hee!) and actively supports community groups and projects (and is President or an officer in most of them!). She's the kind of Mom and Grandma that is there for all of us and we're the better for it. Here's to you, Mom! love ya bunches!!!

Supplies: Kraft cardstock, black cardstock, pink scrappers floss, Floral Vines (online only!), Giga Scalloped Square punch, Bazzill Bitty Blooms - discontinued product

It's graduation time!

It's that time of year - do you have your graduation cards made? I make mine as I go and I still have several to do. Here's one I did for a card order for a girly girl so added a little bling. Hopefully she likes it as much as her grandma did when she saw it. yea! Supplies: TAC Mini Occasions stamp set, TAC Tag Tidbits, TAC Aged Ornaments, versamark ink, palette noir ink, Bazzill Monochromatic Reds cardstock, White ultrasmooth cardstock, black cardstock, Pop-it Pop Dots, giga merchandise tag punch

Don't you love the background made with the aged ornaments and versamark ink? I'm addicted to that look now and again - I have to credit Heather for introducing it. I use those stamps all the time now and never even gave them a second look before she started using them. Isn't that awesome when someone uses a different stamp set than you would have purchased and makes you love it... Or, makes you see a stamp set a different way than you would have used it and opens up the creative door to all kinds of ideas... That's one of my favorite things about stamping and crafting! I hope you find something new to inspire you this week!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Have a Mice Day!

A sweet little mouse with a happy little message is a great way to share the joy of a hand-made card. Mice Day is a great set from TAC's Serendipity magalogue. Color or paper-piece a little mouse, add some scrappers floss and a flower and some bazzill and kraft cardstock and you've got a quick and simple card!
