Shrink Plastic Christmas style!

ok - so what happens when you gather for Christmas and have a bunch of creative kids (big and little)?!! You pull out the shrink plastic! It was a blast. Although there was one that didn't want to do it at first, she soon joined in when the others started coloring and laughing. Here are the full-sized shrink plastic images (Heart Sings and Winter Tags TAC stamp sets) stamped with staz-on ink and colored with prismacolor pencils, the watch the oven moment and the shrunken images. What fun! That's what the holidays are about - the laughter and the fun memories. :)

Happy Holidays and Happy Stamping!

Cards to have on hand

OK - so power is almost completely restored to the area so it's time to get back to card making. I made a bunch of cards recently for an order and it was so much fun to try some different papers and different styles and different stamp sets from TAC.

The first card uses the Rustic Chic paper and the Basic Bird stamp set. I love how the burnt umber ink looks with this paper and doesn't the bird stamp look great with it too? The simplicity of the stamp mixes so well with the richness of color and design on the paper.

The second card is on that beautiful rich navy cardstock that TAC carries. I used the circle sampler set in the circle and the running stitches stamp set to make the "stitches" on the white band.

The third card also uses the Rustic Chic paper (only $6.95 for this 36 sheet paper pack!)and one of the gift with purchase stamps that was in the fall catalog. The Spring Catalog is coming soon so all new GWPs, some double-dipped cardstock and who knows what else. So exciting! I'm quivering in anticipation. :)

The final card in this set features the Uptown Girl paper (wonderful pink and black pages - same as the Rustic Chic - 36 pages of 8X8 paper) and the Little Friends stamp set. Four darling images that show a little whimsy and bring a smile.

Now, I need to make a few more cards for gift sets and then I can start on my Christmas cards. I've got plenty of time, right? ha! :)

Happy Stamping!

Ice, Ice Everywhere - the pictures

ok - I promised some pictures once I had power and was up and running again. Here are some pics from my apartment and from my office at Kansas State University. There is still ice on the trees because of the low temps and there are still about 5900 people without power in Riley County. There are also many more without power across the state. I'm very grateful to have power and be up and running again. There are line crews from all over the country and they've been working night and day. It's amazing.

The craziest thing about an ice storm is that it's incredibly beautiful while it's incredibly dangerous. Here are some pics and the next post will be back to stamping stuff! :)

Ice, Ice Everywhere...

Baby, it's cold outside... and inside! Kansas was hit by a "lovely" (can you feel the sarcasm?) ice storm Monday night which took out power to 600,000 homes, including mine, and it's starting to get darned chilly. It looks like a war zone when you're out driving around because there are so many trees down. Ice on the trees is gorgeous until you see the destruction. I've got some pictures so when I get power at home, I'll add them to this post.

The worst part about the power outage is that it was too dark to stamp! Ah well, hopefully power will be back on soon and I can finish up Christmas presents!

Hope all is well with you and yours! Happy Stamping!

*update - no power yet but here's a link to the local paper with coverage of the storm:
Images of Ice Storm

Thanks for all the good thoughts and well wishes!

*update #2: I have electricity! woo hoo!!! At least for the moment so it's nice to be up and running. 4 days without power - whew... I still have friends and family without power and it could be two weeks or more before they get it again. yikes! Hopefully that's the worst case scenario estimate since the weather is going to get even colder. But, we'll band together and take care of each other so it's all good. Now, time to get some stamping done!

Shrink it up!!!

OK - I finally took the time to do some shrink plastic stuff of my own. how fun! I love watching them curl and change in the oven. The next picture will show you the size of these little charms. Sweet!

I threw together a quick card. I love the TAC Whimsical Greetings set and the snowflakes set. And, doesn't the Brilliance moonlight white ink look spectacular on the navy cardstock?!! Stickles always add that finishing touch. But, the joy is in the prismacolored Winter Tags set shrinky dink. So fun!!! :)

Happy Stamping!

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers 4

I heard about the Sisterhood of Blogging Stampers while visiting a message board today so I checked it out and decided to sign up. How fun to have another stamping network. :)

I've been stamping and making cards for a couple of years but I have to say that I really jumped into it this fall and have been stamping like crazy ever since. It's a lot of fun! Speaking of which, I should get some supplies out to work on during bowling tonight!

Happy Stamping!

Christmas tags!

An evening of Christmas tags, nugget boxes, shrinky dinks and fun! My stamping buddies and I gathered for a night of laughter and stamping. Can you think of anything better? :)

We made some Christmas tags, pictured here. I learned a total embossing technique at Heather's stamp camp last week and then we applied it to the joy stamp. So sparkly and fun!

The "funnest" thing we did was shrinky dink embellishments. And, I forgot to take a picture!!! Can you believe it? They were darling!!! I can't wait to make some of my own. I made my class try it first and they had a blast. :) One girl was too young to know about shrinky dinks so she had a blast watching the oven. :) To be honest, so did I!! I forgot how much they curled and I thought one was permanently ruined but then, like magic, they flattened back out and were just darling!! The TAC Winter Tag set is just perfect for this fun!

I hope you have a wonderful time gearing up for the holidays. I know I have a lot more tags to make! :)

Happy Stamping!
